Travel & Arrival Time

There is ongoing construction on I-91 and around the downtown area in Springfield. When planning your travel to the MassMutual Center, please be considerate of this construction and of event-related traffic.

Graduates: Please use the main entrance at the corner of Main Street and Bruce Landon Way (Formerly Falcons Way). Report to the Exhibition Hall beginning at 2:30 p.m. with cap, tassel, pressed academic gown and hood to register and receive seating assignment and line-up card. Marshals will direct degree candidates to their places in the processional lines.

Accommodations & Accessibility

Degree candidates requiring special seating arrangements or accommodations should contact the Office of the Registrar at no later than May 10, 2019.

Restricted Items

  • Leave purses or backpacks with family members. For keys, medications or other essentials, please use a small, handheld clutch or wallet. Bay Path University and the MassMutual Center are not responsible for personal items left behind.
  • Only graduates, Bay Path faculty/staff, and MassMutual staff are permitted in the Exhibit Hall and Arena floor prior to, during, and following the Commencement ceremony.
  • No weapons
  • No food or drink
  • No balloons

Ceremony Etiquette

  • The Commencement Ceremony is a joyous but formal academic event. Degree candidates are expected to dress and behave in a professional manner during the ceremony. While the University permits the decoration of mortarboards (caps), the University reserves the right to request that unacceptable attire be removed or to exclude from the ceremony any prospective graduate who does not meet acceptable standards of dress or conduct.
  • Degree candidates are to remain in their assigned seats for the entirety of the ceremony.
  • All electronic devices are to be silenced during the ceremony.
  • No photography or videography is permitted from the arena floor.
  • For safety, guests are not permitted on the floor of the Arena prior to, during, or after the Commencement exercises.

  • There is ongoing construction on I-91 and around the downtown area in Springfield. When planning your travel to the MassMutual Center, please be advised of this construction and event-related traffic.
  • Doors will open to guests at 2:30 p.m. Guests should enter the MassMutual Center at the entrance on the corner of Dwight Street and Thunderbirds Way.
  • No tickets are required to attend Commencement. Seating at the MassMutual Center is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive early and allow time to park and walk to the MassMutual Center.

Accommodations & Accessibility

Please use these directions to get to the handicapped seating section:

  • Enter through the Box Office Entrance
  • Take a right and go through the glass doors
  • Proceed to the second lobby area
  • Take the elevator to the Concourse Level
  • Handicapped seating (with chairs) will be available on the Concourse Level
  • Accessible seating for guests is identified on the floor plan with yellow boxes. MassMutual staff will assist any person in need, including escorting guests to accessible seating areas.
  • For guests requiring mobility assistance, the MassMutual Center offers drop-off and pick-up areas at the Box Office entrance on Bruce Landon Way.
  • An interpreter will sign during the ceremony for those who are hearing impaired.
