Dr. Asem has extensive research background using both nonhuman animal subjects as well as human participants.

Her research techniques include pharmacology, surgery, histology, microscopy, electrophysiology, neuroimaging, and chemogenetics.

She has studied a variety of phenomena, relating to issues such as learning theory, obesity, addiction, memory, and Alzheimer's disease.
