Reading Specialist Degree Options

Bay Path University’s Reading & Literacy program offers four degree options to fit the needs of today’s educators and our students. We have reading specialist programs for a full master’s degree (MSEd) or a post-graduate Education Specialist (EdS) degree – all offered entirely online. There are also options for licensure or non-licensure degrees depending on your particular needs or career goals. Regardless of which option you choose, you’ll also earn Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Certification during the course of your studies.

  • MSEd Licensure: This 39-credit option leads a currently licensed MA educator to a second initial license as a Reading Specialist. If students already have Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Certification or Wilson Reading System (WRS)Level l Certification, they must transfer the certification (8 credits) and complete the remaining 31 credits. For curriculum, visit our online catalog.
  • MSEd Non-Licensure: This 39-credit option is available without the practicum. The 4 practicum credits are earned as a Directed Study (1 credit) and an elective course (3 credits) at the graduate level. If students already have Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Certification or Wilson Reading System (WRS) Level l Certification, they must transfer the certification (8 credits) and complete the remaining 27 credits. For curriculum, visit our online catalog.
