Vanessa Silver, Fellow/OGA, C-SLDS/IDA, BCET/AET, serves the students at Bay Path University as the Orton Gillingham Fellow of the Orton Gillingham Academy faculty member.

Ms. Silver has been in the field of special education for over 20 years in Los Angeles. Throughout that time, she has built a private practice working with students with cognitive, behavioral, and language-based differences as a Board Certified Educational Therapist. She began her career in education as a Resource Specialist Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District and holds current California credentials in Multiple Subject (General) Education and Special Education (Mild/Moderate) and a Resource Specialist Certificate. Her specialty is in the field of dyslexia and dysgraphia.

Additionally, Ms. Silver is a Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist through the International Dyslexia Association. She presents at regional and national conferences and provides coursework training to teachers, schools, and districts nationwide through her company and as a National LETRS trainer. Ms. Silver furthers her coursework attendee’s mastery by offering practicums and mentoring teachers through the certification process in the Orton-Gillingham Academy. It covers the elements of teaching students with Dyslexia one-on-one in an educational therapy private practice, small groups, and classrooms. The course includes theory with brain research related to reading and teaching, the history of the English Language, and the Orton-Gillingham approach.

Ms. Silver is listed in Who’s Who in American Education. She has served on the local and national boards of the California Association of Resource Specialists (CARS+), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the Association for Educational Therapists (AET, and is currently on a Board committee with the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA).
