Sylvia de Haas-Phillips is the Director of Bay Path University’s M.S. in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy and the M.S. in Strategic Fundraising. Prior to her appointment in 2016 she served in a numerous leadership roles in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors including Senior Vice President of Community Impact at United Way of Pioneer Valley, a consulting practice focused organizational development, board governance, and strategy, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation and the Travelers Companies Foundation.

Additionally, she has served on many boards and task forces and currently chairs the Board of Directors for Springfield School Volunteers in Springfield, MA, serves on the Board of Interval House in Hartford, CT, on the Board of Trinity Academy in Hartford, CT and on the Steering Committee for the Springfield Public School Community Data Warehouse initiative. She is a member of the National Academic Centers Council (NACC) Accreditation Work Group and is a member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) Research Committee. She was appointed in 2015 to the State of Massachusetts Treasurer’s Task Force on Financial Literacy and co-led the Adult Sub-committee that developed the blueprint to increase financial skills for the adults in the Commonwealth and continues to work with the State Treasurer’s office to bring financial literacy education programs to women in western Massachusetts.
