Sylvia de Haas-Phillips, MS, MSW, is the Director of Bay Path University’s MS in Nonprofit Management & Philanthropy and the MS in Strategic Fundraising & Philanthropy. Her teaching is primarily in the areas of governance, strategy, program assessment and public policy. Prior to her appointment in 2016 she served in numerous leadership roles in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors including Senior Vice President of Community Impact at United Way of Pioneer Valley, principal of a consulting practice focused on organizational development, board governance, and strategy, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation, and the Travelers Companies Foundation.

Additionally, she has served on many boards and task forces and currently chairs the Board of Directors for Springfield School Volunteers in Springfield, MA, serves on the Board of Interval House in Hartford, CT, on the Board of Trinity Academy in Hartford, CT and on the Steering Committee for the Springfield Public School Community Data Warehouse initiative. She is a member of the National Academic Centers Council (NACC) Curriculum and Accreditation Committees, a member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) Research Committee, and a member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management Executive Transitions and Governance Task Forces.
