BPU COVID REPORT

Updated Information for Travelers:

  • Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread COVID-19.
  • People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine can travel safely within the United States:
    • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it
    • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to self-quarantine
  • Fully vaccinated travelers should still follow CDC's recommendations for traveling safely, including:
    • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth
    • Stay 6 feet from others and avoid crowds
    • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

Massachusetts Travel Update

As of Monday, March 22, all visitors entering Massachusetts, including returning residents, are advised to quarantine for ten days upon their arrival. Travelers in the following categories are exempt from this quarantine advisory:

  • Travelers who have received a negative COVID-19 result on a test administered not more than 72 hours prior to their arrival in Massachusetts. Travelers may also test out of the quarantine advisory after arrival in Massachusetts, as long as they quarantine until receiving a negative test result.
  • Anyone who is entering Massachusetts for fewer than 24 hours
  • Anyone who is returning to Massachusetts after being out of the State for fewer than 24 hours
  • Workers who enter Massachusetts to perform critical infrastructure functions during required commuting to or from work and while at work.
  • Travelers who are fully vaccinated and who do not have symptoms.

Domestic Travel Recommendations and Requirements:

If you are NOT vaccinated or NOT fully vaccinated:

  1. Get tested 1-3 days before travel
  2. Get tested 3-5 days after travel and self-quarantine for 7 days. Self -quarantine for 10 days if you don't get tested.
  3. Self-monitor symptoms
  4. Wear a mask and take other precautions during travel

If you are FULLY Vaccinated:

  1. Self-monitor for symptoms
  2. Wear a mask and take other precautions during travel

You do NOT need to get tested or self-quarantine if you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months. You should still follow all other travel recommendations.

International Travel Recommendations and Requirements:

If you are NOT vaccinated or NOT fully vaccinated:

  1. Get tested 1-3 days before traveling out of the US
  2. Mandatory test required before flying to the US
  3. Get tested 3-5 days after travel
  4. Self-quarantine for 7 days with a negative test or 10 days without a test
  5. Self-monitor symptoms
  6. Wear a mask and take other precautions during travel

If you are FULLY Vaccinated:

  1. Mandatory test required before flying to the US
  2. Get tested 3-5 days after travel
  3. Self-Monitor for symptoms
  4. Wear a mask and take other precautions during travel

To return to the US individuals are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months before boarding a flight to the US.
