Spring Semester Update

October 16, 2020

Dear Bay Path Colleagues,

We are well into the fall semester and it is a pleasure to report that things are going smoothly. This is due to the incredible efforts on the part of faculty and staff, working on and off campus, to ensure that our students have the best possible experience and that our community is as protected as possible from the coronavirus. I would like to extend my appreciation again to all members of the Bay Path community.

The many provisions of The Path Forward, our plan to minimize risk of the virus spreading on campus, are proving effective. Now, with cases of COVID increasing nationally and locally, we must be ever more vigilant in adhering to the guidelines we have established.

Accordingly, spring semester at Bay Path will be very similar to the fall semester: classes will be primarily online or hybrid, residence halls will be low occupancy, and regular testing and daily symptom tracking will continue. For traditional undergraduate courses running in the fifteen-week model, timing of the semester will be adjusted. While it will start at the usual time of January 19, the week of spring break will be eliminated in an effort to minimize virus exposure from students traveling. These courses will end a week early, on April 26. Please note that schedules for graduate programs and courses through The American Women’s College follow separate calendars. Registration instructions and special guidelines will be sent to our respective student groups over the next few weeks.

As communicated to faculty and staff earlier this month, we will continue working in a partially remote model through December. Over the next month we will be evaluating the unique needs of our departments and work with teams to make sure schedules enable us to serve students, including prospective students, as well as each other, most effectively.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with your divisional vice president or contact Kathy Robbins at khrobbins@baypath.edu.

I hope that you and your families stay well and that you have the opportunity to enjoy these glorious fall days. And remember to join our virtual Commencement on Saturday, October 17 at 4:00 pm as we celebrate the class of 2020!

Sincerely,
Sandra J. Doran, JD
