COVID-19: Revised Restrictions

Earlier this week, MA Governor Baker announced a series of revised restrictions designed to curb the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations that we are seeing across the state.

The revised restrictions are comprehensive and can be found on the mass.gov website.

Of particular note, there is a Revised Order Requiring Face Coverings: starting on Friday, all persons will be required to wear a mask or face covering in a public location whether indoors or outdoors. You will also be required to wear a mask or face covering while riding in a car with people who are not members of your household. There is no longer an exception for places where you can maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing.

We have also been informed by Longmeadow Town Manager Lyn Simmons that positive cases in the local community are rising, leading to what will likely soon be a “red” designation for the town.

At Bay Path, two cases were added to our dashboard this week. We immediately and thoroughly enacted provisions of The Path Forward, including comprehensive contact tracing. Anyone who was in close contact with the affected individuals has been advised.

Given the increasing spread of the virus, it is critical that we all remain vigilant: wear a face covering at all times when in the company of others, maintain social distancing, and avoid gatherings. Also please remember to conduct daily symptom tracking—if you have any symptoms, call your health care provider and do not come to campus—and adhere to your COVID-19 testing schedule.

As our guiding principle states:

Our ability to teach and learn together in a safe environment requires that all members of our community lean on one another and follow established guidelines consistently and compassionately. “We all share and accept the responsibility for keeping ourselves and each other healthy.”

Thank you for your commitment to our community.
