Hatch Library website wins Interactive Media Award.
The Interactive Media Awards (IMA) are given each year for standards of excellence in web design. The award is organized by the Interactive Media Council, Inc (IMC), based in New York City. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to pushing the Internet to the highest standards. Out of a pool of 240 other entries in the field of “Education” for 2014, Bay Path’s Hatch Library website won the IMA’s Best in Class Award, with a score of 487 out of 500.
According to the IMC, the Best in Class award “is the highest honor bestowed by the IMA. It represents the very best in planning, execution, and overall professionalism. In order to win this award level, your site had to successfully pass through a comprehensive judging process, achieving very high marks in each of our judging criteria - an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each year.”
Featured judges for the 2014 Award included American Express, Microsoft, The New York Times, Time Warner, and Verizon.
Hatch Library’s Best in Class Award was shared with the developers of the website, Gravity Switch, from Northampton, Massachusetts.
Bay Path’s Sandy Cahillane, Electronic Resources and Reference Librarian at the Hatch Library, said that she had always known that the new website was great, from design to functionality. “But it’s nice to have the validation from others,” she added with a smile.
