Do today’s students have what it takes to make it on Wall Street? Led by Professor Andrea Russo, the Bay Path College team of Tina Doiron, Nataly Monsalve, and Hillary Ladeau proved that they did! Named the Bay Path Bold Business Students, they placed 1st in the College Division at the Junior Achievement Stock Market Competition.
The Stock Market Competition, sponsored by St. Germain Investment Management, is a fast-paced and fun event designed to introduce students to the stock market and investing. Teams are given a fictitious $1,000,000 to invest in over 50 fictitious stocks. Students are challenged to analyze each day’s news and determine the impact to their portfolio. With trading days lasting just 60 seconds, the goal is to build the highest portfolio net worth in a frantic 60 “days.”
Bay Path won the competition by finishing with a portfolio of $1,802,253,62, an increase of 80.23%.
The Bay Path team also came in 2nd place for the return on investments, and 3rd place for the total portfolio.
Other area colleges and universities that participated included: Western New England University, Springfield Technical Community College, Westfield State University, Springfield College, and Elms College.
