What Makes a Man Climb Mountains?
LONGMEADOW, Mass.—On Thursday, March 26, Bay Path College will host What Makes a Man Climb Mountains?, an evening program featuring Michael R. Matty, president of St. Germain Investment Management and former Bay Path trustee. His goal is to reach the top of the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each continent. The event will be held at 7 p.m. in Breck Suite, Wright Hall on the Longmeadow Campus, 588 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA. Sponsored by Kaleidoscope: Perspectives on Culture, Life and Learning, What Makes a Man Climb Mountains? is free and open to the public.
Matty’s passion is to climb the Seven Summits, and reaching these peaks is regarded as a mountaineering challenge. Fewer than 200 people around the world have summated all seven, which include Kilimanjaro in Africa, Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Kosciuszko in Australia, Everest in Asia, Elbrus in Europe, Mount McKinley in North America, and Aconcagua in South America. Bay Path invites the public to journey with Matty as he shares photos and stories of the peaks he has reached and the mountains he has yet to climb.
