Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs) Prep Model
The Education Department at Bay Path University has developed a unique model to support education majors in preparing for and taking the required Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs). Students enroll in sections of their first-year English courses for education majors. Skills covered on the Communication and Literacy MTEL are infused into the course content, and students meet weekly with an MTEL Coach outside of class in small groups to focus on test preparation. With this model we have seen an increase in the pass rates for students taking the Communication and Literacy MTEL.
