Donna's Story

Education, both an Ornament and a Refuge

Executive Secretary, Administrative Assistant, Customer Service Supervisor, Interior Designer Owner, Architectural and Design Firm - the single thread that ties every challenge in my adult life is education, and for that, I credit Bay Path University. Even as a wife, mother, grandmother, volunteer, and board member, breast cancer survivor, medical researcher, Special Ed teacher, physical therapist, lawyer, computer wizard, Director of Development, Sales and Marketing Manager, and a Tiffany Bridal Consultant – education has been the key to success in a variety of opportunities.

The firm foundation in education from Bay Path prepared me in unusual ways. I picked up business and accounting skills – and the course, Child and Family Interaction, was one of the most useful courses I can remember as it gave me the tools I would use to "seize the day", every day!

Several years ago, I traveled back to campus, and I wanted to share with every student the importance of their days at Bay Path, and how vital it was to appreciate the knowledge they are gaining – sure to help them in ways they could not even imagine.

After graduating, I thought I would work in advertising, get married, have a family, and live happily ever after. Only as years passed did I realize that every phase of my life was supported by my education. Our great teacher of ancient times, Aristotle, said, "Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity.” Bay Path gave me the skills, confidence, and motivation to meet every challenge life would bring to me. I am indebted to Bay Path University and am proud to be a Legacy Society Member.
