Celebrating Excellence: Bay Path University Honors Achievements with Marcia Conrad Awards
Bay Path University recently hosted its annual Marcia Conrad Awards ceremony on April 10. Named after the university’s beloved former Dean of Student Life, Marcia Conrad, who retired after 40 years in that role, these awards recognize outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and service.
At this year’s ceremony, there were over 70 students who were saluted and over 40 awards and certificates given to recipients.
In addition to recognizing individual and team/group achievements, the Marcia Conrad Awards ceremony also celebrated the annual Essay competition where one student from the traditional undergraduate, The American Women’s College, and graduate program are selected for their winning submission based on the University’s theme, “Breaking Through.”
Here are the winners of this year’s University Essay Competition:
Traditional Undergraduate - Lexi Cowell '27, is from North Adams, MA, and is majoring in psychology and aspires to work in mental health and addiction counseling.

The American Women’s College - Janelle Drake ’25 is a mechanical engineer. After coming out as transgender in 2019, she co-founded The Affirming Spaces Project, a nonprofit organization which provides training to businesses in northern New England on gender-inclusive practices. She is pursuing a BS in Nonprofit Management.

Graduate - Kerri Call G'27 is a graduate student in our MFA in Creative Nonfiction. She currently lives with her husband and three children on the island of Okinawa in Japan. Her essay, Some See More, Some See Less, is the first piece of writing she has shared publicly as an adult. The inspiration to write about her vision loss came from reading a memoir by Frank Bruni, The Beauty of Dusk.
