Health/Social Emotional Education for School and Community Certificate
This 100% online certificate program is designed for community and public health educators, as well as wellness and fitness professionals, who want to expand their knowledge of health content, strengthen practical skills, and apply both effectively in educational and instructional settings.
This program provides the skills and training to implement health and SEL education, and course assessments are aligned with Massachusetts performance indicators and the National Health Education Standards.
Health/Social Emotional Education for School and Community Certificate Program Highlights
Health education encompasses a broad range of programs and learning experiences designed to improve the health of individuals and communities.
You will learn how to design and implement skills-based health education which includes skills, SEL competencies, and a variety of content areas such as sexuality, violence prevention, mental health, etc.
After earning this certificate, you will gain the knowledge and skills to teach and implement:
- Skills-based health/SEL education
- Human sexuality
- Choice of two other courses: public health, promoting wellness, injury prevention, mental health, coordinating school health, and skills for risk reduction.
Admissions Requirements
For consideration, applicants must submit the following to the Office of Graduate Admissions (the same admissions requirements apply to students who will enroll to only one course):
- A completed application - Apply Now
- Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts (undergraduate degree must be from an accredited college or university)
- An original essay of at least 250 words on the topic: “Why A Graduate Certificate in Health/Social Emotional Education for School and Community is important to my personal and professional goals."
- A current resume

- A copy of your current teaching license (if applicable)
- A master's degree is required.
- Successfully completed courses may be accepted in the Skills-Based Health/Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initial licensure or non-licensure program if taken within 5-7 years of matriculation (subject to change).

Official Transcripts:
Official transcripts must be sent directly to Bay Path's Graduate Admissions Office from the issuing institution's records office either by mail or through a secure electronic transcript service (such as Parchment or National Clearinghouse). For transcripts sent through a secure transcript service, please select Bay Path University from the vendor's dropdown list to ensure the transcript is routed to the correct place.
