Susan Figy spent 32 years as a Police Officer/Detective for the Westfield Police Department. During her employment with the Westfield Police Department she spent the majority of her career in the field of Child Abuse, Sexual Assault and Crimes against People as well as Domestic Violence. Figy has extensive trainings on homicide, sexual assault, injury recognition, child abuse, domestic violence. She became the trainer with the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Academy early on in her career and continued to teach even after retiring. Figy taught at the Academy for over 30 years. Her area of instruction also included numerous Regional and National level trainings involving these areas.

Figy taught to thousands of Police Officers in Massachusetts and other neighboring states in the following areas: Interview Interrogation, Sexual Assault, Juvenile Offenses, Juvenile Delinquency, Domestic Violence, Court Room Procedure and, Injury Recognition and Crime Scene Analysis.

Figy was awarded Woman Achievement Award for the YWCA , Hampden County Police Officer of the Year Award, Excellence in Instruction Award Western Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Academy and the Adjunct of the Year Award at Bay Path University. She was a founding member of Women in Criminal Justice Western Massachussetts.
