Megan Trinkle-Knotts, MS, CGC

Program Director, Genetic Counseling; Assistant Professor

BS, Indiana University; MS, Indiana School of Medicine

Megan began her career at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where she worked in both prenatal and pediatric genetics for nearly a decade. During this time, she helped develop several innovative clinical initiatives, including a statewide Perinatal Loss Evaluation Program that provided free, customized genetic evaluations for families experiencing stillbirth, and a Cord Blood Collection and Genetics Consultation Initiative designed to prevent missed opportunities for genetic diagnosis in newborns with congenital anomalies or suspected life-threatening conditions.

In 2015, Megan joined the Center for Genomic Advocacy at Indiana State University, where she played a key role in establishing a new Master’s in Genetic Counseling program and launching a genetic counseling clinic with a focus on oncology and psychiatric genetics. Her work contributed to expanding access to specialized genetic counseling services while helping train the next generation of genetic counselors.

In 2021, she joined the Genetic Counseling Program at Bay Path University, where she initially served as Assistant Director and Fieldwork Coordinator, where she managed the national network of clinical training experiences for students, building partnerships with sites across the country to support high-quality fieldwork education.

Megan now serves as Director of the Genetic Counseling Program at Bay Path University, where she oversees program leadership and curriculum development while continuing to focus on innovative approaches to genetic counseling education and workforce development.

She remains actively engaged in the genetic counseling community through research, publications, and dedication to patient services through her private practice - MKGenetix. Megan also participates in organizations, including the Indiana Network of Genetic Counselors, the Genetic Counseling Educators' Association, the National Society of Genetic Counselors, and the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling.
