Professor Bethany Backer is a first-generation college graduate and doctoral candidate at Bay Path University, specializing in Higher Education Leadership and Organizational Studies (HELOS). She holds both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Bay Path and is passionate about using her educational and professional experiences to inspire and empower the next generation of students.

Throughout her career at Bay Path, Bethany has contributed to the university community through teaching, faculty support and onboarding, academic advising and mentoring, course development, and innovative initiatives within the MBA +C model. She has served for the past three years as an adjunct faculty member and Assistant Program Coordinator for Graduate Programs in the School of Management and Technology, as well as a traditional student adjunct advisor.

Before joining Bay Path, Bethany worked as a Commercial Kitchen Estimator for Singer Equipment Company, a $900 million company and one of the top three suppliers of commercial foodservice equipment in the United States. In this role, she helped implement several of the company’s largest estimating projects, including the $19 million Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium of the Future and the $9 million Penn State football stadium foodservice refresh. Bethany credits many of the skills and tools that contributed to her professional success to her MBA experience at Bay Path.

As the Academic Director, Business Leadership & Organizational Studies within the School of Management and Technology, she brings a unique combination of higher education experience, industry expertise, and doctoral preparation to her work at Bay Path. Her experience as both a student and educator gives her a deep understanding of the student experience, while her industry background provides valuable insight into the evolving needs of today’s business community.

Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Bethany is a proud wife and mother of two who enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and their pets. Her own journey reflects the transformative power of education, perseverance, and determination, and she is committed to helping others discover what they can achieve through education.
