Since 1990, charitable donations by individuals have grown by half, from $110 billion to $164 billion in 2001, and then sky-rocketed to $295.02 billion in 2006. Despite erratic markets, the wealthy continue to get wealthy, and many are looking at ways to create a philanthropic impact beyond writing a check. But outside the uber-wealthy of the country, about 65% of households with incomes less than $100,000 give to charity. What motivates these individuals to give, especially in the midst of difficult economic times?
So what is this new philanthropy? What is the impact of these changes in how people think about their giving and what does it mean for nonprofits and their fundraising efforts? In this new era of philanthropy, what do donors want? What do donors need?
Come hear about the new philanthropy. It is hands-on, ambitious, targeted, global and results-driven.
Join us to hear keynote speaker, Claire Costello, National Executive for Philanthropic Management for The Bank of America, who will overview the most important trends in this new philanthropic era. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Costello was an independent consultant serving the philanthropic management needs of wealthy individuals and institutional clients. Previously she founded and directed the philanthropic advisory services group for Citigroup’s private bank.
