NECC Academic All-Conference Team

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recently named 153 student-athletes to the Academic All-Conference Team for the Fall 2009 semester. Student-athletes who competed in men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, golf, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball were eligible for the fall NECC Academic All-Conference Team.

Announced on Friday, Feb. 19, by Commissioner Del Malloy, the Team included 18 Bay Path students, who competed in cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and/or volleyball last semester. Six players on the Bay Path tennis team made the NECC Team. They were Julia Bendzin ’10 of Poestenkill, NY, Sarah Costa ’12 of Tiverton, RI, Lianna Loveitt ’12 of Gorham, ME, Carolina Ynguanzo ’11 of Springfield, MA, and Cristina Ruiz ’10 of Waterbury, CT.

Dani-Marie Renfrew ’12 of West Barnet, VT, Audrey Rowen ’12 of Topsfield, MA, and Jacquelyn Siddle ’11 of Palmer, MA, made the NECC Team as Wildcats soccer players. The NECC Academic All-Conference Team welcomed five members of the Bay Path volleyball team, including Vanessa Chaplin ’12 of Attleboro, MA, Davi Chuong ’11 of Easthampton, MA, Ashley Cimmino ’10 of Westfield, MA, Kathleen Rodrigue ’10 of West Stewartstown, NH, and Danielle Turner ’11 of Bellows Falls, CT.

Field hockey Wildcats Kimberly Barbato ’11 of Saylorsburg, PA, Sarah Gates ’12 of Crown Point, IN, Jessica Priestly ’11 of Middleboro, MA, and Racquela Richard ’11 of Providence, RI, were named to the NECC Team as well as cross country runner Brittany Castagna ’12 of Chester, MA.

The NECC began its inaugural year in 2008 with nine full-time members including Bay Path, Becker College, Daniel Webster College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College, Newbury College, Southern Vermont College, and Wheelock College.
