Bay Path University Named Among Most Innovative Universities by U.S. News & World Report
LONGMEADOW, Mass., September 22, 2026, Bay Path University has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Most Innovative Schools in the Regional Universities North category, ranking No. 12 in the publication’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings. The University was also ranked No. 18 for Social Mobility, placing Bay Path among the top 25 institutions in the category and making it one of only two Massachusetts institutions in that top 25 group.
The recognition comes at a significant moment for Bay Path. Earlier this month, the University completed its acquisition of Cambridge College, bringing together two institutions with complementary missions and expanding Bay Path’s ability to serve more than 5,000 learners. The integration expanded the University’s reach and academic offerings while maintaining the Cambridge College identity at instructional locations in Boston and Puerto Rico.

Today, that spirit is reflected in how we are bringing two institutions together, embracing artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and developing programs and approaches that respond to the changing needs of learners and the workforce.”
The U.S. News Most Innovative Schools ranking is based solely on responses from top academics participating in the publication’s annual peer assessment survey. College presidents, provosts, and admissions deans nominate institutions making innovative improvements in areas including curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, and facilities. Institutions must receive at least seven nominations to be included.
Bay Path has a long history of innovation in higher education, and that tradition continues through new academic programs, technology initiatives, and approaches to student success. The University has expanded its academic portfolio to meet evolving workforce needs, including programs in health sciences, nursing, data science, cybersecurity, occupational therapy, and other high-demand fields.
Through its Augmented Intelligence (AUI) Lab, Bay Path is also exploring the responsible use of artificial intelligence to enhance teaching and learning, improve the student experience, and support university operations.
The acquisition of Cambridge College represents another significant example of Bay Path’s commitment to innovation.

Bay Path was also ranked No. 18 for Social Mobility in the Regional Universities North category. According to U.S. News, the ranking recognizes institutions that enroll and graduate significant proportions of economically disadvantaged students who receive federal Pell Grants, based on Pell Grant graduation rates and Pell Grant graduation rate performance.
Social mobility has been central to Bay Path’s mission since its founding in 1897. The University serves a diverse population of learners, including many first-generation college students and adult learners balancing work, family, and other responsibilities. Financial aid, academic support, flexible learning models, career-focused programs, and other resources help students persist and complete their degrees.
