Bay Path Professor, Students, and Alumna Honored at NAMIC New England 2019 Recognition Awards

Longmeadow, MA—  On Monday, September 16, 2019, a group of Bay Path students, faculty, and staff attended the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) New England chapter awards in New York City. Award recipients were honored for their achievements in communications, exceptional leadership, and their commitment to the organizations mission to increase the pipeline of underrepresented groups in the communications industry. Janine Fondon, Assistant Professor and Chair of Undergraduate Communications at Bay Path University, was awarded with the Excellence in Diversity Award.

“I am so proud of Bay Path's undergraduate communications students who continue to blaze new trails as they chart their future success in the communications industry and beyond,” Fondon shared. "The students bring both competence and creativity to every assignment, and I am proud of each of them for stepping into their brave space to create winning concepts in this competitive field. I thank NAMIC New England's President Kamilah Avant for embracing this media pitch competition as a way to engage students in communications careers."

Among the award winners were Jada Ashley Furlow, Bay Pay alumna and Digital Producer for WWLP-TV NBC 22, who was awarded the Young Rising Leader in Journalism Award, and Bay Path students Anissa Nieves, Zoe Naglieri Prescod, and Sara Gigliotti who were recognized for winning NAMIC New England’s 2018 Student Media Pitch.
