Commission recognizes successful Cambridge College integration, strong financial position, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Bay Path University has received a 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), with its next comprehensive evaluation scheduled for spring 2036.

The decision follows an extensive institutional review and recognizes Bay Path University's educational quality, financial strength, and commitment to student success. The Commission also commended the University's successful acquisition and integration of Cambridge College, which expanded Bay Path's academic programs, geographic reach, and student population.

Who Accredits Bay Path University?

Bay Path University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), an institutional accrediting organization that evaluates colleges and universities against established standards for educational quality and institutional effectiveness.

In 2026, NECHE reaffirmed Bay Path University's accreditation for 10 years, with the University's next comprehensive evaluation scheduled for spring 2036.

This accreditation provides independent assurance that Bay Path University meets established standards for academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and the resources necessary to fulfill its educational mission.

The reaffirmation followed a two-year process of institutional self-study, assessment, and preparation, culminating in a comprehensive evaluation that included a visit to Bay Path's Longmeadow campus.

NECHE Recognizes Successful Cambridge College Integration

A significant component of NECHE's evaluation was the acquisition and integration of Cambridge College by Bay Path University.

The Commission specifically recognized the University's success in “expanding the University's program portfolio, geographic reach, and student population while preserving its institutional mission centered on access, innovation, and student success.”

The integration expanded educational opportunities while maintaining a focus on supporting students through the transition.

Among students enrolled in Cambridge College's most recent academic terms before the integration, 99% chose to continue their education at Bay Path University.

Accreditation Reflects Financial Strength and Institutional Stability

NECHE's decision also comes during a period of significant change in higher education, when many colleges and universities are confronting financial pressures, enrollment challenges, and questions about long-term sustainability.

The Commission's recognition of Bay Path University's strong financial position reinforces the University's ability to support its academic mission and plan for the future.

“Higher education is navigating a period of profound change, and we must prioritize our responsibility to students while we navigate these changes and build a Bay Path that’s ready for the next era,” said Doran. “Earning a 10-year accreditation is evidence of our strength, the thoughtful work we have undertaken to position the institution for the future, and our shared commitment to ensuring that learners continue to have access to the education and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Looking Ahead to 2036

With its next comprehensive NECHE evaluation scheduled for spring 2036, Bay Path University will continue its focus on academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

The accreditation reaffirmation marks an important milestone as the University builds on its expanded academic offerings and works to meet the evolving needs of students and the communities it serves.
