218 Books, Countless Perspectives: Bay Path Celebrates the Freedom to Read
Bay Path University's Hatch Learning Commons celebrated the freedom to read with its annual Banned Books Giveaway, connecting students with books that have been frequently challenged or banned across the United States.
This year's event featured 218 books, with approximately 50 to 60 attendees visiting the Blake Student Commons to browse the selection. Participants, primarily students, were invited to select up to two free books and take home commemorative pins and bookmarks.
The event's reach extended well beyond campus, with 102 online requests for books that will be mailed to recipients in the coming weeks.
More than a book giveaway, the annual event encourages readers to explore diverse perspectives, discover new stories, and reflect on the importance of intellectual freedom and everyone's right to read.
Through initiatives like the Banned Books Giveaway, the Hatch Learning Commons continues to foster curiosity, thoughtful dialogue, and a love of reading throughout the Bay Path community.
