Dr. Maria Siano teaches communication, writing and new media courses.

Her research interests in media studies focus on popular culture. Dr. Siano is the author of a non-fiction book, The People Are Represented: A Discourse Analysis of Contemporary Programs in the Television Crime Genre, published by Teneo Press (October, 2008).

Since 1998 she has been an adjunct professor. Dr. Siano previously worked for North Jersey Media Group, and held several positions, including Editor of the weekly newspapers Suburban Life, Suburban Trends, and the lifestyle magazine 201.

She continues to work as a freelance writer and editor.
