Cybersecurity Summit: Who's Next? How a Stronger Ecosystem is the First Line of Defense
What do Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, the City of Lowell, and Essex Community College have in common? They are members of an ever-growing list of companies, municipalities, and nonprofits that have been the victims of cyber and ransomware attacks in Massachusetts. In 2023, we’ve seen a surge of these attacks across the Commonwealth. When the unthinkable happens, a company, city, town, or college is often paralyzed or worse yet, consumers need to be alerted their privacy has been violated.
As the CEO of CyberTrust Massachusetts, Peter Sherlock sees the big picture. He leads a consortium of industry and higher education leaders who partner with the cyber ecosystem of business, government and education to develop cyber workers and make local entities more cyber secure.
In his presentation, we will:
- Explore current cyber workforce challenges;
- Learn of the efforts to enable and activate new pathways
for the talent pipeline; - Discuss the innovative cyber security approaches for municipalities across the Commonwealth.

Our Presenter
A broadly experienced technology leader, Peter Sherlock has led organizations applying leading-edge technologies (in networking, security, software, and data analytics) to the most challenging problems. He served as MITRE’s Chief Operating Officer as well as Senior Vice President responsible for MITRE’s defense and intelligence business. Earlier, he led Motorola Broadband’s network infrastructure business. An active supporter of the Massachusetts tech community, Pete has focused on cybersecurity, education, and innovation.
