Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (otherwise known as TMS) is a new treatment for major depressive and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Learn about the history of brain stimulation in psychiatric disorders, the current FDA approved uses of TMS and future treatment options for neuropsychiatric disorders. Don’t have a medical degree? About Our Speaker

Brian Smith, MD is a neurologist and sleep specialist. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and his neurology training at Dartmouth Medical Center. He is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology (stroke), and sleep medicine. He previously practiced neurology at Baystate Medical Center and currently, practices sleep medicine at Sleep Medicine Services of Western Massachusetts. He is the Chief Technology Officer for Achieve TMS East, a practice focused on using transcranial magnetic stimulation to treat psychiatric disorders, including major depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He lectures regularly on topics in neurology, sleep, and brain stimulation.
