Hot Topics in Public Health: COVID-19 Our Common Global Health Challenge will be presented by Dr. Patricia Anafi, adjunct faculty for the Master of Public Health program.
This online information session will highlight the initial outbreak of the coronavirus and how it became a global pandemic, discuss current strategies and actions to curb the spread of the virus, and its impact on global health and well-being.
About Dr. Patricia Anafi
Dr. Patricia Anafi is an associate professor of Community Health at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam and an adjunct faculty member in the Master’s of Public Health program at Bay Path University where she teaches a course in Global Health. She is also a visiting lecturer for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Masters in Public Health Practice Program Ghana Practicum. She holds a doctorate degree in Public Health from University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a concentration in Community Health Education. She was a Policy Communication Fellow with the Population Reference Bureau and African Scholars Program Fellow with the University of Massachusetts Five Colleges. Before her appointment at SUNY Potsdam, Dr. Anafi taught at Hampshire College in Massachusetts and at University of Cape Coast in Ghana. She has worked with the Ghana Health Service as a researcher on several health intervention studies. Her research has concentrated on examining effective communication strategies for HIV prevention education and HIV/AID related stigma reduction in rural Ghana. She is also interested in studies that examine socio-cultural and economic aspects of maternal health care seeking behavior among low income women in Ghana. Her recent research includes preconception health education and behavior among young people.
