About our Speaker:

Scott Tillema is an active duty law enforcement officer and a nationally recognized speaker in the field of hostage and crisis negotiations. Taught by the FBI, Scott spent 7 years as a negotiator and now has a personal mission to train police officers in verbal influence. As a professional speaker, Scott has presented to thousands of police negotiators, and has been a keynote speaker for major corporations and universities in a variety of countries. He was invited to give a TEDx Talk, where he presented, “The Secrets of Hostage Negotiators.” Educationally, Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and a Master’s degree in psychology. He also received executive education at the Harvard University Program on Negotiation. In addition to his full time police work, Scott is a faculty member with the Schranner Negotiation Institute based in Switzerland, providing negotiation instruction to clients in both the U.S. and Europe, and is a trainer for the Hostage & Crisis Negotiation International Academy based in Paris.
