Poet: María Luisa Arroyo, Poet Laureate of Springfield MA (2014-2016), Assistant Professor of Writing & First-Year Studies at Bay Path University

In her latest collection of poems, Destierro Means More than Exile, Springfield’s Poet Laureate María Luisa Arroyo pays tribute to 32 women poets who inspire her as a poet and educator. Listen to the music of Arroyo’s voice as she reads selected poems, including the poem, Comelibros: The Girl Who Eats Books, and interweaves her development as a multilingual Puerto Rican poet. As part of the program, accept her invitation to respond to a writing prompt on the spot in order to generate a spontaneous collaborative poem!

Arroyo’s poetry collections will be available for sale and signing after the talk.
