Moderate Disabilities

This program allows you to select a course of study allowing you to teach students with moderate disabilities in either a PreK-8 orĀ 5-12 setting.

Blending theory with immediate practical application, you will earn credentials that provide you with the ability and confidence to service learners in a variety of learning environments including inclusive, general education classrooms, resource rooms, and classrooms specific to students with special needs.

Program Options:

MSEd or EdS with Massachusetts Initial Licensure
All students seeking initial licensure must:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Complete seven 3-credit course in moderate disabilities;
  • Complete two 3-credit electives in special education;
  • Complete a supervised practicum in moderate disabilities;
  • Pass all MTEL tests required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education prior to entering practicum.

MSEd or EdS without Massachusetts Licensure
This degree option is designed for students who are interested in working with persons with special needs and are in the human service field.

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
  • DOES NOT require practicum and MTEL
