Marcus Ellis

Marcus is an experienced Executive, University Instructor, and Doctoral Candidate with more than ten years in Predictive Analytics, Statistics, and Finance, Pricing & Promotions, and Retail Marketing analysis. Like many of his other roles, Marcus joined Belk with the directive of rebuilding the analytics infrastructure and to lead the company into the world of using data to make decisions, develop strategies to pinpoint and resolve deficiencies and to create new opportunities to increase revenue and promote corporate goals. Past roles include Senior Director of Data Science and Pricing Analytics for Staples, Manager of Analytics and Predictive Modeling, Pricing and Promotions for Lowe’s Home Improvement; Finance Manager for TIAA-CREF; and Financial Analyst for Volvo Financial Services, and Training Analyst for Krispy Kreme.

Marcus has taught a variety of courses including Statistics I & II, R/R Studio, Data Visualization, Web Analytics, Data Mining, and Machine Learning. Currently he is pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration and Finance from Sacred Heart University and he holds a Master in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University, a Master in Finance from Boston University, and a Bachelor in Economics from High Point University.

Marcus is married, has two kids, and a Bernese Mountain dog (9 months old, 100 pounds!). Spare time hobbies include swimming, watching soccer (knees are too bad to play any more) or just hanging out with the family….and of course teaching!
