Game, Set, and Match: Tennis Team Advances to Finals < Back to Listing

In case you missed it, the powerhouse 2nd seed Bay Path Tennis team defeated 3rd seed Lesley University on Wednesday the 16th in the semi-finals of New England Collegiate Conference play. Go Wildcats!

Doubles team Brittany Walsh and Taylor Wood defeated Kelly Watt and Kaitlin Parthum in straight sets from the Lesley Lynx. Soon after, Wildcats Symone Watson and Stephanie Morin aced Victoria Bunker and Frances De Leon. The Lynx weren’t going down without a fight, though, and in the next match, Emma True and Molly Phelps from Lesley won out over Bay Path’s Teanna Montoya and Abigail Janneke.

In singles action, Watson rallied again over Carissa Iverson, and Janneke came back from her doubles loss to take both sets from Meghann Toomajian. Wildcat Walsh clinched the match with a straight set victory over De Leon. Continuing play, Lesley’s Lynxes won the next three games, but it wasn’t enough to take home the top spot.

This Saturday, the Wildcats will be travelling to top seed Regis College with hopes to bring home the title. The game starts at 1 p.m. The Wildcats Tennis team is now 10-4 overall, and the match this weekend will reprise the 2012 NECC Championships, where Regis squeaked out a win, 5-4. Let’s cheer them on and help the ‘Cats bring home the top trophy!
