Sylvia de Haas-Phillips, M.S., M.S.W., is the Director of Bay Path University’s M.S. in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy and the M.S. in Strategic Fundraising and Philanthropy programs. Her teaching is primarily in the areas of governance, strategy, applied research, program assessment, and public policy. Prior to her appointment in 2016 she served in numerous leadership roles in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors including Senior Vice President of Community Impact at United Way of Pioneer Valley, principal of a consulting practice focused on organizational development, board governance, and strategy, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation, and the Travelers Companies Foundation.

Additionally, she has served on many boards and task forces in support of community organizations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.. She is a member of the National Academic Centers Council (NACC) Curriculum and Accreditation Committees, a member of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) and a member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management.
