Information for Parents

Welcome to the Bay Path College Counseling Center web site. The Counseling Center is committed to enhancing the educational and personal experiences of your daughters, enabling them to fulfill their individual potential. We are aware that parents may have concerns about their child’s adjustment to college, and we are here as a resource to help you. We are happy to consult with you by phone or by appointment. In addition to providing on-campus short term individual counseling, we can also help parents identify and secure off-campus mental health treatment if needed.

Confidentiality:

While the law prohibits us from sharing any information about a student’s counseling contacts except under rare circumstances involving imminent risk, we are not prohibited from discussing general ways in which parents might be helpful in dealing with the issues confronting their daughters.

Why do Students go to Counseling ?

Students seek counseling for a broad range of problems including adjustment to life away from home, problems with relationships, self-esteem or identity issues, as well as more complicated problems like depression, anxiety, eating disorders and substance abuse. We maintain a positive relationship with mental health providers in the community and are able to collaborate and/or refer students for treatment when indicated.
