Tennis
The 2007 Bay Path College Tennis team has come out strong, posting a 2-0 conference record and an 8-4 overall record as of October 9, 2007. Two times this season Raquel Babeu (Jr., #1) has been named NAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The week of September 17, Babeu finished the week with three wins at #1 singles and three wins at #1 doubles without losing a set. For the week of October 1, Babeu won three #1 singles matches and two #1 doubles matches in leading the Wildcats.
2007 Season Wrap-up
The BPC Tennis team ended their season (11-4/3-0 NAC) as the regular season champion. This year’s team set a couple of team records; Most wins in a season (11), NAC conference wins (3). They finished in 3rd place at the season ending NAC Tennis Championships held at Castleton State College.
Jr., Raquel Babeu also garnered many awards during the season:
- Raquel won the most prestigious award to a single player by being selected by the coaches as 2007 NAC Player of the Year.
- 1st Team All-NAC
- She was recognized two times during the season as NAC Player of the Week.
- She took home the individual championship in 1st flight singles, winning 7-5, 6-1 over Becker’s Allison Flynn.
So., Julia Bendzin was honored for the following:
- 1st Team All-NAC at #3 singles
- 2007 All-NAC Doubles Honorable Mention with 2nd Team partner Kara Fox .
So., Kara Fox also received the following:
- Champion at 4th flight singles as she defeated Becker’s Danielle Stryker 6-3, 6-1.
- 2007 All-NAC Doubles Honorable Mention with 2nd Team partner Julia Bendzin.
Fr., Carolina Ynguanzo was selected as NAC Rookie of the Week.
The team also was selected by the coaches of the NAC as the 2007 winner of the NAC Team Sportsmanship Award.
