"With biology, I’m constantly challenged, yet I’m always excited to learn about all areas of science from microbiology to genetics. I’ve gained extensive knowledge from my professors by applying the science I’ve studied in the classroom immediately to research in Bay Path’s modern laboratories. At Bay Path, I’m gaining an excellent college education and endless opportunities to succeed along my path to becoming a physician working with children.

One America?em>*, a community service road trip, is just one of the many opportunities Bay Path presents to students, and I couldn't resist being one of the first students to embark on this amazing journey. During our stop in Baltimore, we visited Johns Hopkins Medical Center, and I met one of my heroes Dr. Benjamin Carson, a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon. Dr. Carson took the time to encourage me to follow my dreams of becoming a pediatric surgeon and during our discussions, I learned of a summer internship opportunity to work one-on-one with researchers at Johns Hopkins.

By providing a top-rate education and experiences to match, the Bay Path community is preparing me for the next step on my path—medical school.”— Recently named one of Bay Path College’s National Science Foundation (NSF) Scholars, Mandy intends to apply for the Summer Internship Program at Johns Hopkins this summer, and she will pursue a medical degree following graduation in 2011.

* Approximately 50 percent of One America was underwritten with funding from a member of the Bay Path College Board of Trustees and the Wal-Mart College Success Awards program. The Wal-Mart College Success Awards program is administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and is made possible by a generous grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
