Liberal Studies
“As a first-generation college student majoring in liberal studies at Bay Path, I was given abundant opportunities to pursue my passion of making a difference in the lives of others. The liberal studies program, which I can apply to numerous positions and situations in the public service sector, especially youth-focused programs. My liberal studies education has served me well, allowing me to gain knowledge in multiple areas, such as child psychology and education. Last summer, I served as a leadership counselor with S.T.A.R.R. (Standing Together Achieving Real Results), Inc., an urban youth organization.
Bay Path allowed me to shine… I established the College’s first Black Student Association, a supportive environment for students of color, and as captain of Essence, the College’s step team, I led our team to their very first competitions. My achievements have even changed the lives of those around me, including my mother. She witnessed my accomplishments and she is now in pursuit of her dream—a college education.”
Jewel is employed full-time by S.T.A.R.R., Inc., a youth organization in New York, and she plans to continue her education in an African American studies graduate program.
