Gail Metcalf

“In 2007, I was laid-off from my position as a claims representative with a local insurance company, and I was having an extremely difficult time finding a new job. I had the experience; I just didn’t have the degree. Today, I’m well on my way to new beginnings, thanks to the education I’m receiving at Bay Path College and my self-determination.

While working in the insurance industry, I was drawn to the litigation aspects of my work. When I learned I could receive my paralegal certification and major in legal studies at the One-Day-A-Week Saturday College, I knew I had found a program that would prepare me for my future. I was surrounded by people who wouldn’t stifle me, but encouraged me to pursue my dream.

As I was completing my paralegal certificate, I received a new insurance position where I could apply my real-world experience with my newfound knowledge of the legal field. Today, I’m building upon my career that I started so many years ago. My education has given me a broader palate for legal studies, and has provided a better position to enter the litigation field of the insurance industry.”

- Gail is currently enrolled in several courses related to her new position as a senior claims specialist with Acadia Insurance Company. She plans to return to Bay Path to complete her bachelor’s degree in legal studies.
