Brianne Leary
“Stepping on the Longmeadow Campus today, I know I’ve changed from the moment I walked into my first class in the One-Day-A-Week Saturday College. Not only do I have a newfound sense of confidence and poise, but I’ve received a high quality education, which has prepared me to succeed as an elementary schoolteacher.
From the moment I arrived, there was absolutely no time for boredom. I was excited to learn and face new challenges. Every Saturday, professors encouraged us to exceed expectations and pursue our dreams, and all of my courses, in one way or another, prepared me for a teaching career. In fact, Estelle Leavitt, chair of the education department, refused to let me give up when I felt discouraged. She put the time in to get to know us and mentor us when it came time for student-teaching. She guided me through difficult times, and I know I’m a great teacher because of Estelle and her commitment to her students.”
