Science Matters! is a unique hands-on science discovery summer day program designed specifically for girls entering grade 7 in the fall of 2008.

Why does Science Matter? Science is everywhere, and understanding how it is a part of our daily lives can give students a great foundation for success in life. A solid science education is essential for everyone, and it provides young people with the skills and knowledge to make sense of the world. This interactive summer day program will introduce the beauty and intricacies of science to young girls, and encourage them to continue their pursuit of learning about all forms of biological sciences in the future.

This weeklong program will guide learners in an exploration of microbes, plants, paleoecology, the environment, the human body and more. The program will teach participants how to observe, take notes, collect evidence, draw conclusions and present on a subject of their choice learned during the week with the goal of sharpening their thinking skills about the world around them. Science Matters! will take place on the Bay Path College campus using the science labs – the newly renovated, state-of-the-art science research facility – and the full resources of the College.
