Improvisation for the Spirit
Katie Goodman
At some point in time, many of us find ourselves looking for new insight and renewed energy for our work and personal lives. We need to jumpstart our souls, shed our fears and hang-ups, and begin to move in a more purposeful and passionate direction. Actress and comedian Katie Goodman shows us how the tools of improv comedy, and most importantly humor, can be used to help us to lead a more rewarding and creative life. In this highly interactive workshop, Goodman will focus on the features of improv: quick-thinking, collaboration, getting out of our own way, and being in the moment without being a perfectionist – all skills that can aid us in the journey to find our authentic selves.
Katie is the creator, writer and director of Broad Comedy, as well as the co-artistic director of the Equinox Theatre Company with her husband, Soren Kisiel, with whom she also co-writes Broad Comedy, and other co-things that led to co-parenting most recently. She and her husband were recently nominated for the MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant for their unique work in theatre. Her new book, Improvisation for the Spirit: Live a Creative, Spontaneous and Courageous Life Using the Tools of Improv Comedy, will be out in the stores in July. Katie also writes for O, The Oprah Magazine.
