Beverly Holmes
Beverly A. Holmes is an accomplished business leader with a distinguished career in the financial services industry. Her demonstrated expertise is in setting strategic direction, building profitable businesses and establishing successful strategic alliances.
She joined MassMutual in 1983. During the subsequent years, she received numerous assignments, promotions and awards. In 1999 she created for MassMutual a new business, the retirement services TPA Alliance Business. She grew the business profitably from start-up to $4 billion in assets under management over a five year period.
For her success, in 2000, Beverly was honored with the company’s prestigious Presidents Leadership award and subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President.
Beverly’s abilities and entrepreneurial spirit are also demonstrated outside the corporate world. To advance her interest in women business owners she joined the board of the Center for Women’s Business Research, today she is Chair Elect and Vice Chair of Strategy for the Center. The Center which is located in Washington, D.C., is the premier source of knowledge on women business owners and their firms worldwide. She is a board member of Bay Path College located in Longmeadow, Mass. She is also an active board member of WISER, the Women’s Institute for A Secure Retirement in Washington, D.C. and she recently joined Office Depot -- Women’s Advisory Board.
Beverly has a devout interest in economic development opportunities for women in developing countries as well as in the U.S. She presented a workshop in Hairou, China as part of her role at the United Nations 4th World Conference on Women. Subsequently she was asked to participate in a Women’s Conference Circle at the White House sponsored by former First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton to discuss economic development strategies for women. In 2005 she presented in Tunis, Tunisia at the Business Women’s Summit for Middle East and North Africa Business Women Leaders. She participated as a representative of the U.S. State Department and Beyster Institute, University of San Diego.
Ms. Holmes has traveled extensively leading delegations to such countries as People’s Republic of China, Russia, Ukraine, Kiev, Senegal, and England to explore business development opportunities.
She has received numerous rewards and recognitions. She was recognized by Dollars & Sense magazine as one of “America’s Best and Brightest Professional Women”; in 2004 she was one of the first to be inducted into the Bay Path College Twenty First Century Women Business Leader’s Hall of Fame.
Ms. Holmes graduated from Southern New Hampshire University and Cambridge College with degrees in Human Services and a Master of Education. She has completed numerous leadership development continuing education programs at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business, Harvard, School of Government and The Center for Creative Leadership. She is active as an author; her most recent book is titled “Applied Leadership Putting Theory Into Practice”, a lecturer and presenter.
