Dion Recognized as a 'Rising Star'

11.11.2010

Justion Dion, JD LONGMEADOW, Mass.—Boston Magazine recognizes Justin H. Dion, JD, assistant professor of law, as a 2010 Rising Star. This is the fifth consecutive year Atty. Dion has been named to the Super Lawyers’ issue for his work in bankruptcy law.

With a reputation in western Massachusetts of not just treating the problem, but treating the person, Dion has built a name for himself as a bankruptcy lawyer. While pursuing graduate studies in psychology, Dion was introduced to law. He changed paths and enrolled in law school. He credits his training in psychology for his success in assisting clients who are coping with bankruptcy. “I believe I’ve distinguished myself as a practitioner by having the psychology background and being able to counsel,” Dion said. “I try to understand where people are coming from and to get at the heart of their issues and problems, and I do a little hand-holding to help them through the process.”

Boston Magazine acknowledges Dion’s efforts to assist underserved populations in western Massachusetts during the current economic downturn as well as his pro bono and leadership contributions to the Alliance Providers of Legal Services to Individuals Facing Foreclosure, which offers homeowners free, legal advice. An associate with Springfield’s Bacon Wilson prior to his appointment at Bay Path, Dion continues to work with the law firm on a pro bono basis on bankruptcy law cases. Today, under Dion’s instruction and as part of the College’s upper, legal studies course, Bay Path students provide legal assistance to Bacon Wilson’s clients who are filing for bankruptcy.
