Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference
11.04.2010
Top prize winner of the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s (HGCF) Entrepreneurship Initiative and Bay Path College One-Day-A-Week Saturday student Stacey Bilodeau will deliver the keynote address at the 2010 Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference. Bilodeau will share her success story and discuss her business Independent Solutions, LLC.
Launched in 2007, Bilodeau’s Independent Solutions offers professional home care to clients with traumatic and acquired brain injuries. Bilodeau has gained the reputation for providing clients with an exceptionally high level of personal, compassionate care, and for always going above and beyond to serve clients. In roughly three years, the company has grown from $70,000 to nearly $1 million in revenue, and her staff has increased from 15 to 33 employees.
In addition, One-Day-A-Week Saturday student and HGCF’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winner Crystal Senter Brown ’12 will serve on the panel Start, Grow, Succeed: Grinspoon Alumni Share Their Stories. She will share her personal story of what it took to turn her idea for a children’s book series, Gabby Saturday, into a real business. She will discuss how she overcame funding challenges, struggled to find customers, found the right people to help her succeed, and more.
Organized by the Entrepreneurship Initiative, the Conference is held annually to encourage young entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into businesses.
Approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate students from 13 area colleges are expected at the event, which will include breakout sessions for promising entrepreneurs. The Conference will also include the Entrepreneur’s Resource Showcase, featuring area businesses and organizations as well as student business owners from the Pioneer Valley. Bay Path undergraduate and HGCF’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winner Colleen Smith ’11 will join Bilodeau and Brown during the Entrepreneur’s Resource Showcase and represent her business Collage De Trois.
