Page Singers to Perform
01.26.2009
LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Page Singers from Bay Path College Performing Arts Department will perform during the 16th Annual American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Collegiate Choral Festival Concert at Regis College in Weston, MA. This is the first time the Page Singers have been invited to participate in the collegiate concert, which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Casey Theatre on the Regis College campus.
The Page Singers, named for long-time Bay Path Associate Professor of Music Charles E. Page, are one of two choral ensembles on campus directed by Scott Bailey, director of Choral Activities at Bay Path. This select group of auditioned singers provides students with previous musical experience an opportunity to work on more challenging repertoire. The Page Singers appear at annual concerts and on-campus functions including admissions events for incoming freshmen, Winterfest, annual Performing Arts Concerts, and the annual Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield Choral Festival. They have also performed internationally in Vienna, and performances in Prague are scheduled for the Fall 2009 semester. The groups specialize in performing diverse and eclectic musical compositions from a wide range of musical genres including pop, jazz, classical, and contemporary.
The 16th Annual ACDA Collegiate Choral Festival Concert will feature choral groups from area colleges and universities. The choirs will perform individually with their conductors, and the event will close with the 200-voice, combined choirs joining the 50-piece Smith College Orchestra to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Felix Mendelssohn by performing several movements from his great oratorio Elijah. The Concert is sponsored by ACDA Massachusetts Chapter.
Admission to the event follows: $15 for general public; $10 for seniors and students; and $5 for children under 12.
