Becker Claws Past Bay Path

Bay Path College Wildcats fell to the Becker College Hawks (63-58) in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women’s basketball action.

Becker quickly increased their one-point half-time margin by going on a 10-0 run to start the second half. Becker’s Courtney Fiske of Westfield, MA went seven for 11 from beyond the ach, as she led the Hawks with 21 points. Fiske went 5-7 from the three-point range in the second half as the Hawks went ahead by 22.

The Hawks were ahead by 20 points with 2:36 remaining, but the Wildcats refused to quit. After Becker emptied their bench, Bay Path threatened to the steal the game, as they went on 15-0 run to end the second half. The Wildcats started their run by hitting three straight three-pointers.

Despite the late game rush, the Hawks held on to improve their overall record to 11-9, 7-4 in the NECC. Becker’s Beth Pion of Enfield, CT earned a double-double, as she scored 11 points and brought down 13 rebounds, while her teammate Rachel Pinak of Cheektowaga, NY chipped in with 13 points in a winning effort.

Bay Path’s Jessica Hunt of Madison, CT led all scorers with 26 points and 17 rebounds, to earn a double-double, and her teammate Christina Calabrese of Hamilton, NJ added 11 points in the Wildcats’ effort. Bay Path fell to 3-18 overall, 1-11 in the NECC.

Bay Path will travel to Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH on Thursday February 12 for a 6:00 p.m. game.
