New Varsity Sport
08.25.2008
Participation in a new conference and the announcement of field hockey as an added varsity program highlight the fall 2008 Wildcats athletic schedule, as announced by the Bay Path Athletic Department.
The Wildcats will field seven fall sports programs as members of the recently-formed New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). New conference rivals include: Becker College (Leicester, MA), Daniel Webster College (Nashua, NH), Elms College (Chicopee, MA), Lesley University (Cambridge, MA), Newbury College (Brookline, MA), Mitchell College (New London, CT), Southern Vermont College (Bennington, VT), and Wheelock College (Boston, MA).
Headlining the fall season is the debut of the College’s varsity field hockey program. Under the direction of first-year head coach Alison (Pratt) Rosenblat, the Wildcats will play an eight-game regular season schedule, including four home matches. The Wildcats start the season with a road trip to Nashua, NH to face the Eagles of Daniel Webster College on September 13th at 1:00 p.m.
The home opener is on September 20th at 1:00 p.m., when the Wildcats host Wheelock College.
Coach Rosenblat began her field hockey career in Western Massachusetts as a star player at Agawam (MA) High School and Westfield State College. In 2002, she became head coach of field hockey at American International College. A strong component of her coaching philosophy is player development: Rosenblat participated in The Futures Program the USA Field Hockey’s Olympic Development Program, and was a coach for Euro Tours (2002-2004), an experience that provided American field hockey players the opportunity to play teams competitively throughout Europe.
As a member of the
NCAA Division III and the
New England Collegiate Conference, Bay Path College sponsors seven NCAA varsity programs including soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, basketball, cross country, and field hockey.
