Wildcats lose to Daniel Webster in overtime

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Bay Path College Wildcats fell 2-to-1 in a disappointing sudden death goal in single overtime action by Daniel Webster’s junior midfielder Rachel Schelhorn (Lebanon, Conn.). Schelhorn notched the game winner off a cross 10 yards back from sophomore reservist Kim Lemire (Merrimack, N.H.). 

The Eagles’ freshman forward Alexia Quintiliana (Manchester, Conn.) scored first on a pass by fellow freshman defender TC DiSantis (Hinsdale, Mass.) after drawing out the Wildcats junior keeper Sam Gunseth (Swanzey, N.H.) in the 27th minute of the first half. 

The Wildcats immediately answered back in the 29th minute when sophomore forward Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, Mass.) knotted the score 1-to-1 after netting a left-footed shot in the back of the goal sneaking past two Eagles. 

Both teams remained scoreless in the second half bringing upon overtime action. Schelhorn’s goal won the game in the 92nd minute of play. 

Gunseth suffered the loss for the Wildcats with five saves, while the Eagles’ freshman goalkeeper Amy Waller (Berlin, Mass.) notched her first win on the season giving up one goal and had three saves. 

Daniel Webster is now 1-2-0 on the season and 1-0 in NECC play, while Bay Path is 0-3-0 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Bay Path will be back in action on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. on the road facing Nichols College.
