Hawks Sweep NECC Volleyball Tri-Match

Leicester, Mass.- The Lady Hawks defeated Bay Path College 3-2 and Southern Vermont College 3-0 in New England Collegiate Conference tri-match volleyball action at the Leicester Gymnasium today. Becker improves to 8-13 (3-2 NECC). Bay Path (3-13, 1-5 NECC) defeated Southern Vermont (0-18, 0-5 NECC) 3-0 in other action.
Bay Path took a quick 1-0 lead surprising the Hawks 25-17 in the first game. Becker bounced back winning the next two games decisively 25-20, 25-12. The Wildcats came back in the fourth set with a 25-22 win to force a fifth set. Becker proved to be to strong and capped off the win 15-5.
Becker was led by Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY) who had 16 kills, 2 aces and 34 attempts. Kelsea Laubenstein (Randolph, MA) who had 27 assists and Britney Williams (Old Saybrook, CT) who had 9 aces.
In the Hawks second match verses Southern Vermont Mountaineers the Hawks cruised to a 3-0 win. Game scores were 25-19, 25-8, 25-12. Pinak once again led the Hawks with seven kills, Julie Lantry (Fitchburg, MA) had 10 service aces and Vicki Schwarz (Meriden, CT) had 5 kills, six assists and six aces.
In the Mountaineers first match of the day verses Bay Path College, the Wildcats won 3-0. Bay Path took the first match 25-12, they never trailed in the match scoring 13 unanswered points at one stretch. In game two the Wildcats scored the first 10 points of the game and won easily 25-10. In the third and final match the Wildcats held the SVC team to only one serve rotation again winning handily 25-6
